Adventure Log 9

The PC’s met with Taleen Quirrelle and the Coyote at the Dancing Lizard. Taleen worked out a deal with the Coyote to relieve the PC’s of their debt to him but the party then had to convince her that the Ruby Dragon was too dangerous to sell off. The PC’s now owe Taleen TWO huge favors and she will collect on them. The party went to the Octagon, in Vor Rukoth, and battled guards to gain entrance to the Blood Caves. They found the formula for Bloodroot poison and its antidote. The party killed guards, a Hellfire Cambion, and Zar-Rel. They saw a lycanthrope run off down one corridor and 2 pirates down another. The party got out of the caves and now have a pretty good idea where to find the lycanthropes and the pirates. Now, the important thing is to get the statuette to the church of Avandra so that it can be properly guarded or destroyed.

Adventure Log 8

The party was asked to retrieve a Ruby Dragon Statuette, the same one the Coyote contracted them out to retrieve, by Taleene Quirelle. They spoke with Taleen about the conflict of interests and she assured them that when they returned the Coyote would be agreeable to other compensation. The PC’s went to the lava falls, discovering a cave out of which the lava flows down into Vor Rukoth. They explored the cave, having two different battles with fire based creatures; all of which seemed to be servants of Achazar. Achazar is a Primordial who, according to legends, was thought to be in Abier. The PC’s discovered historical texts detailing a battle between Avandra, Bahamut and Pelor against Achazar and his Ancient Volcanic Dragon Steed, Barakastearln. The dragon’s essence was imprisoned in the ruby dragon statuette and Achazar was imprisoned in the lava with columns of an unknown material piercing his flesh. Achazar lies in dormant hibernation but the PC’s discovered a way to wake him. Thankfully they were not stupid enough to actually attempt it. The party’s next moves seem to be to ferret out Zar-Rel and then to travel back to Hammerfast to find a priest of Avandra powerful and wise enough to deal with the ruby dragon statuette.

Adventure Log 7

After resting up from their assault on the lighthouse the party decided to use the bellows/scuba gear to search the underwater area where they had seen Warthrel and the Dwarves of the Rockhide Clan the previous day. In the basement of a bulding, the PC’s found a dias with a set of crystal controls used for altering the water level for several miles. Their arcana check would have let them raise the level but not lower it. They also found a portal, which Viagrum activated, just as an adult black Dragon attacked. The party escaped through the portal only to end up in the top floor of the Tower Of Fire, one of the Obsidian Spires. This room contained 3 other portals but all of their glyphs had been chiseled away, as if someone intentionally did it to prevent the portals activation. The tower’s walls and its central stairwell were ablaze with Whitefire but the party had to retreat to the third level since they were being attacked by a Death Knight and its minions. The PC’s found a hoard of ritual components and a ritual book containing Whitefire (12th level caster). They also found a wizards journal that spoke of the falling of the weave and the last days of Vor Rukoth. Apparently a wizard in this tower conured Whitefire as the tower was being overrun and it’s possible that the falling of the weave altered its magic to make the spell permanent. the wizard also mentioned that several of his students were trapped on the second floor due to the faltering and unpredictable magic.

They went to the second level, defeated more undead, and found silverware and 3 paintings of ancient Bael-Turathi kings. There were portals here as well, probably leading to extradimensional, rooms but their magic failed during the falling of the weave. The first floor contained quality wizard garments and some mundane gear. The PC’s left the tower and started to head back to Coyote’s Refuge but were ambushed by Harbris and his Shadow Hounds. They were able to capture Harbris and discover that he was hired by Zar-Rel and the Orium Circle. He told the PC’s that the entrance to the Circle’s base is in a building in the Octagon, which leads to a cave network called the Blood Caves. The party took 2,500 gp’s worth of gems from Harbris, which was his payment for assasinating them, and they brought him to the Coyote. The Halfling Coyote displayed disturbing strength as he picked up Harbris and flung him across the room. His guards took Harbris to a basement level as a prisoner. The Coyote then asked the party if they would retrieve a ruby dragon statuette from a cave behind the lava falls. The party has 3 days to bring the statuette back. He gave them 2 scrolls of climbing and a scroll of endure elements. He is also having his assistant, Myla, enchant Avandra’s items to a +2. They will be ready the next morning. It is now late afternoon and the PC’s are short healing surges and daily powers. Perhaps some role playing, chatting with different factions in the Refuge, and sleep will be in order to begin next game night.

Adventure Log 6

Ahbralexx started out dominated, which the PC’s reasoned out a bit later. He left the Dancing Lizard just before daybreak and just as Peter (Jimmy) and Quinn (Kyle, Sean) were arriving. The party subdued him. Melby Fairweather got the leader of the White Lantern Consortium, Taleen Quirrelle, to break the enchantment. The PC’s now owe her a favor. They discovered that the pomegranites came from a woman named Mara who supposedly lives in the Infernal Fens and that their magic was inherently imbued from the tree from which they were grown. Viagrum and Peter had breakfast with the Coyote in his tower. They PC’s then looked for Sora Lighthand’s tent in search of Alain but the tent was packed up and gone. After questioning locals and discovering tracks they went to the lighthouse via Vor Rukoth in search of him. On the way the came upon Kira Bloodbane and other Dragonborn searching for a sword called Fiendcutter. The Shadar-Kai, Shala the Shadow, and her companions ran out of a building being chased by demons. The 3 factions defeated the demons and gained a mutual level of respect for each other. The party did not however, find out what Shala the Shadow was looking for or for that matter search the building to find out where all of the demons came from.

The PC’s continued on towards the Lost District and the lighthouse. On the way they saw the outskirts of the Infernal Fins, the tops of the Obsidian Spires, and a great flow of lava pouring down from the cliffs and disappearing into a section of the city known as the Nightmare Forges. The party reached the Lost District and had to take a row boat 500 feet to the stairs to the lighthouse. While in the boat they met a dwarf named Walthrel and his companions from the Rockhide clan of Turok-Tol. They had a makeshift SCUBA apparatus with a bellows and hoses. it appeared as though another dwarf was underwater searching for something. Two Black Dragons attacked and were defeated but the dwarves didn’t survive. of course the PC’s confiscated their SCUBA device. They then camped out for the night in the second floor of an old blacksmith shop but not before searching the ground floor using the SCUBA gear and discovering a magic item resting in its watery tomb.

The party saw two pirate ships while climbing the stairs to the tower. The PC’s assaulted the tower, killing its inhabitants in two glorious battles and defeated a ghost who was guarding an Astral diamond. The diamond was used in the past as the lighthouse’s beacon. The PC’s discovered treasure, magic items, 50 gp’s each of mundane equipment and a journal. They also found the disembowled and dismembered body of Alain, who was apparently used in a ritual sacrifice to Asmodeus. The journal detailed the cirle of Nine as a group of nine cells, each representing the nine hells. The cell in Vor Rukoth is called the Orium Circle, with Zar-Rel listed as its leader and the Iron Circle was another. The journal lists names of leaders, key members, and the cities in which the groups operate. It could be very valuable in the right hands.

The PC’s did unfortunately, miss their meeting with the Coyote but they should be able to reconcile that slight to him.

“Ir Clu’at et Enrath” in the tounge of dragons “The Clutch is Dead”. The sight of a clutch of Dragonborn eggs that are no longer fertile is more than just saddening. It is not a loss as when a life is ended, but a loss of all potential that would be or might have been. Such is what Coyote’s Refuge brings to mind. This town has not died like the city that lies less than a mile away. This tent city called Coyote’s Refuge is “Ir Clu’at et Enrath”, still born. It has so much potential but is nothing more than a festering sore full of villainy and Rot. A collection of wretched souls fighting over the scraps the was Vol Rukoth. And there is a good chance it will forever remain that way.
These past four days I have followed the trail of Zel Ral to this place in hopes of ending the Tiefling Sorcerer’s threat to these lands. However, even as I haggled over the price of a room, I was met by the new members of The Saddle Sore Irregulars bearing the gravest of news. Dar Gramath, my mentor and friend was apparently slain by agents of Zel Ral. I have scarcely had time to grieve, but it is in these new Irregulars that Dar Gramath placed his faith, so shall I. Dar Gramath saw to it that the group was armed with the Blessed Blades of My Unwavering Lady. However, tools alone will not allow us to defeat the shadow. For that, we must come together, put aside our petty vices, and remain focused. The last may prove most difficult. Already this past night, with less than an hour in town, each new member of the group ran off in separate directions, ALONE, in pursuit of whores and a drunken priestess. The first incident led to the near abduction of the portly mage Viagrum. I can only hope the young man Mikal fares better with his solo carnal pursuits. If this group thus loses focus every time we come across loose women, we won’t make it past the red light district of any town. The score so far;

Saddle Sore Irregulars 0
At least the former Irregular member Terris Halfjaw strayed from Avandra’s past after being left for dead with Mummy Rot. I fear no more than a half drunken prostitute is required for some current members to fall to a similar fate. If I were to build a fortress to protect against their ilk I would surround it with brothels rather than battlements and it would be neigh impregnable!
Perhaps I am being too judgmental. If I can say anything for the group, they seem capable combatants and appear to follow Avandra’s path. For now I will attempt to retire to bed once more. Earlier tonight we retired to our rooms sans the young man Mikal, and awoke find a sea of sand pouring into our room. Narrowly avoiding suffocation we dealt with the perpetrator Terris Halfjaw and now find ourselves in possession of the inn. In the morrow we will speak with the Coyote and perhaps the inn will remain under SSI ownership, if not under new management. As for Zel Ral, I await the halfling Melby Fairweather’s return to gather more information.

Adventure Log 5

Ahbralexx was sent to Vor Rukoth to find out if the rumors of Zar-Rel, an exiled Tiefling spellcaster from Hammerfast out for vengeance against his former city, were true. He made contact with Lord Kelevan, of the Consortium, who knew nothing of Zar-Rel but suggested that Ahbralexx wait a day or so for Melby Fairweather to return from a trade venture from Turok-Tol. The rest of the party was celebrating their victory over Redthorn at Stckmere Keep when the head of Dar Grammath was delivered with a message. “Stay out of The Circle of Nine’s business.” The party journeyed to Vor Rukoth to help Ahbralexx with his mission.

They arrived at the Dancing Lizard, a tavern in the mostly tent city called Coyote’s Refuge which was crowded with a variety of beings, just as Ahbralexx was negotiating for the only unoccupied room at the inn/tavern with its owner Terris Halfjaw. Mikal D’Orlovsky spoke briefly with a group of Drawves and Half-Orcs who were sitting together. Ridick went to the tower next door, which he found to be the home of the Coyote who is the “ruler” of Coyote’s Refuge, to ask if he could have sex with a prostitute on the roof but made no headway. Viagrum accompanied a prostitute to her tent only to be accosted by a group of Half-Orc slave traders called the Blackwhip Slavers. The other PC’s noticed some Half-Orc following Viagrum out and gave chase. The party made quick work of the Blackwhips and gained some treasure and a sack of 7 healing pomegranites. They questioned a survivor of the battle and discovered that the Blackwhips trade slaves to a group of dwarves from Turok-Tol, called the Iron Bar clan. The party brought their captive Half-Orc, Drudge, to the Coyote for justice. The Coyote killed him on the spot with a dazzlingly fast stroke of his sword. The Coyote said that he would be at the inn the next night for dinner and that he would like to talk with the PC’s then about hiring them for a mission or 2.

The party went back to the Dancing Lizard and confronted as well as embarrased Terris halfjaw who they believed knew something of the slave traders. Viagrum met Lord Kelevan and now deeply suspects that the man might be his father. Lord Kelevan also had to knock Mikal on his ass to teach him some manners but the party smoothed everything over. Kelevan left but said that he would ask melby fairweather to come to the Dancing Lizard at first light. He also mentioned that he heard of an historical spellcaster by the name of D’Orlovsky who used to live in the Obsidian Spires which are a group of towers in Vor Rukoth. Viagrum talked with Harbris, a Shadar-Kai bounty hunter, who earlier in the evening had been meeting with a Shadar-Kai female and her 2 bodyguards. Harbris left, gathering his Shadow Hounds from outside, on somewhat amicable terms with Viagrum. Mikal approached and spoke with Sora Lighthand, a female Elf Cleric of Corellon, who had been there drinking all evening with 4 human bodyguards. The rest of the party had drinks with 3 Dragonborn, their leader Kira Bloodbane among them. Kira said that they were members of Arkhosia’s Last, a group of elite Dragonborn warriors dedicated to stamping out all remnants and items of the ancient Tiefling empire of Bael-Turath. She also knew that the Circle of Nine is a group of demon worshippers in the area and that one of their ranking members is a male Tiefling called Karzan Halfborn. Kira offered friendship since Viagrum and Ahbralexx convinced her that the PC’s goals appear to align with her own.

Out of left field Mikal D’orlovsky asked Sora Lighthand, a devout cleric, if she wanted to have sex. Amazingly Sora agreed and told Mikal to accompany her to her tent. Mikal left with her and her 4 bodyguards. of course the rest of the party doesn’t know it yet but Mikal died horribly. The PC’s turned in for the night, without searching their underground room, only to be woken up by D’Orlovsky’s wolf as sand poured in from trap doors in the upper walls. Ridick made a thievery ckeck, to open the IBOD, in the last round to get the PC’s out of the room. They decided to lie in wait to see who would come and Terris Halfjaw was the culprit. They killed Terris and searched his room, finding magic items and a journal. The journal talked about Terris being a former Saddle Sore Irregular who was left for dead by the old Irregulars after contracting mummy rot. Terris never forgave them and took his vengeance out on the PC’s who are current Irregulars.

Adventure Log 4
Session 4

After the battle of Albridge the party celebrated the victory with the folks of the Barony of Harkenwold. The morning after the festivities Dar Gramath once again approached the party with another proposition. Nazin Redthorn was hunkered down in Stockmer Keep and with a months long siege the best option would be for a small group to sneak into the castle and liberate the captives including Baron Stockmer as well as take out Redthorn, No Small Task! The Saddle Sore Irregulars were going to make a name for themselves as either martyrs or heroes.
Acting on information from Old Keller the group entered the castle via secret passage and headed straight for the large keep disquised as Iron Circle Soldiers accompanied by an informant. Inside the keep the group battled Redthorn and his personal guard eventually defeating the eemy and liberating the keep.
With Baron Stockmer free and the Iron Circle fleeing Harkenwold the threat was over for now.

Adventure log 3
Session 3

The adventurers finished up the action from last session by breaching the double doors leading to Yisarn‘s laire. The group won a tough battle against Yisarn and his skeletal guardians. Two pit traps and a giant Glimmerweb Spider only added to the difficulty. In the end isarn was vanquished and only the spider escaped the party alive.
After the defeat of Yisarn the group returned to the Woodsinger Elves and and the elven chief Eriyel. Eriyel agreed to send 40 elven bows to the aid of Harkenwold. A halfling messenger then informed the group that the Iron Circle was preparing to march on Dar Gramath and the rest of the rebels at Albridge to crush the rebels once and for all.
The party arrived at Allbridge and within two days had set up a defence including halflings of the Reedfoot Clan, fighters from Tor’s Hold, and anyone from all over the Barony willing to fight.
The Rebels matched the Iron Circle in numbers but the soldiers of the Circle were better armed and trained. In spite of this, the party was able to turn the tide of the battle. In their victory the group defeated Tar Devils and forced [[:Nazin Redthorn]] to flee the battlfield.
Now, after re-grouping and licking their wounds the group must rescue [[:Baron Stockmer]] and defeat Redthorn by invading the Iron Keep.

Adventure Log
session 2

The party had kindled the flames of rebelion by clearing the Toadwallow caverns of Bullywugs thereby freeing a score of strong warriors from Tor’s Hold to join the rebellion. Ahbralexx one of the original members of the Saddle Sore Irregulars presented the party with the recovered Blessed Blades of Avandra including the wand Paur Galad. The group then travelled cross country to intercept an Iron Circle shipment headed for the town of Dardun. The Iron Circle guardians of the wagon proved no match for the party and they recovered a large amount of gold and a magical cloak. The group then continued on to Dardun and in a bold move cleared a Tavern of Iron Circle mercinaries in a matter of seconds!
The group then, acting on a tip, headed to Harken Forest to enlist the aid of the [[:Woodsinger Elves]]. Unfortunatly to gain the trust of the elves the part had to venture to a sanctuary near the ancient ruins of Dal Nystiere. The party activated a teleportation ritual to appear underground in the wizard Yisarn’s lair. The group defeated some goblin emissaries of the Spiderkin Goblins and are poised to open some double doors leading deeper into the hidden lair of the skeletal mage Yisarn.

Session 1
The advnture began in Hammerfast. The group was relaxing and enjoying the watered down ale of The Foundation Stone. Working at the Stone that night were the bartender Graal and the twin bouncers Krank and Gaff. Besides the party, attending the Stone were Trell the half-elf bard, Korak a dwarf of the trade guild, and Kubosho the current goliath champion of Giants Feet. After Creel lost to Kubosho in a surprisingly close game of Feet, one of Illyanna‘s sons burst into the Stone with news that the farm had been attacked by the Iron Circle. The party had a run in with the Iron Circle about a month early and prevent the mercinaries from burning the farm. THe group decided to leave for Harkenwold with haste and after taking care of Illyana’s sons the set out south. Arriving aat the Druid Grove in Harkenwold the group met with Reithann the druid. The party learned that Harkenwold was occupied by the Iron Circle and Baron Stockmer was being held captive in his own keep in Harken. Reithann suggested the group head southwest to Tor’s Hold and clear out some Bullywugs from the Toadwallow Caverns to free up some fighters for the growing resistance in Albridge. The group cleared out the caverns even recsueing a halfling boy of the Reedfoot Clan and after returning the boy to his family’s keelboat the group headed for Albridge to speak with Dar Gramath the leader of the Harkenwold rebellion. The party arrived in Albridge and secured lodging at Mallard Inn from a forgetful Onneth the owner of the Inn before heading over to Garmath Stables to speak with the rebel leader. Dar told the party that the rebellion was gathering strength but the key to victory was to enrage the Iron Circle leader Nazin Redthorn to the point that he would leave the renamed Iron Keep. If the group could accomplish the task they might e able to eliminate the Iron Circle leader and end the occupation. Dar suggested the party, now taking on the Saddle Sore Irregulars tradition, waylay Iron Circle caravans and generally cause havok in hopes of drawing Redthorn from the Keep.
